En las sociedades contemporáneas, la imagen se ha consolidado como un elemento central en los procesos de comunicación, interacción social y construcción de la identidad y actúa como un sistema complejo de significación a través del cual los individuos comunican información sobre sí mismos, interpretan a los demás y participan en dinámicas sociales, culturales y profesionales. Así, comprender la imagen implica analizar no solo su dimensión visible, sino también los procesos simbólicos y relacionales que la sustentan.
Comunicación interpersonal, imagen pública y códigos simbólicos aborda la imagen como un fenómeno que se sitúa en la intersección de la comunicación, la sociología, la psicología social y los estudios culturales. A lo largo de sus capítulos, se integran aportaciones teóricas clásicas con investigaciones contemporáneas que permiten comprender la evolución de la imagen en el contexto actual. Esta combinación de enfoques ofrece una visión amplia y rigurosa de la imagen como objeto de estudio.
Este manual ha sido concebido como un recurso docente para la enseñanza universitaria de la comunicación interpersonal, la comunicación no verbal, la imagen personal y profesional, la construcción de la reputación y los procesos de interacción social. Su estructura facilita tanto el desarrollo de asignaturas de carácter introductorio como su utilización en materias de especialización, pudiendo adaptarse a diferentes titulaciones y niveles formativos.
Este libro tiene como objetivo proporcionar al lector una comprensión integral de la imagen como fenómeno comunicativo, social y cultural. Dirigido a estudiantes universitarios de Comunicación y disciplinas afines, combina el rigor teórico con una orientación aplicada, incorporando casos prácticos, ejercicios y herramientas de evaluación que facilitan el aprendizaje. De este modo, no solo se pretende analizar la imagen, sino también desarrollar competencias para su gestión crítica y estratégica en distintos contextos.
